Onion Potato Poha Recipe

One of the simple Indian breakfast option, too light and nutritious to have it. Poha is flattened and dried rice. I make this for my kids when they come back from school and I too prefer eating Poha ( I like little spicy though, to check on my taste buds )! So, here it is - Onion Potato Poha - simple, easy, delicious.

Ingredients -

  • Potatoes chopped very┬ásmall┬á- 1
  • Onions sliced - 1
  • Green Chillies sliced - 2
  • Chana dal ÔÇô 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dal ÔÇô 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard Seeds ÔÇô ┬╝ teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Peanuts ÔÇô 1 teaspoon
  • Oil ÔÇô 2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder ÔÇô ┬╝ teaspoon
  • Sambhar Masala ÔÇô ┬╝ teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder ÔÇô ┬╝ teaspoon
  • Lemon juice as per taste
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Method -

Soak the poha in water and wash it so that it becomes clear and clean, now drain all the water from it and keep it in a sieve for 5 -7 minutes.

Take a heavy bottom pan, heat oil in it and then add chana┬ádal, urad dal, mustard seeds, peanuts, curry leaves and stir till they crackle. Now add chopped potatoes and let it saut├® for few minutes, add onions after that and the chillies. Stir for about 5- 7 minutes on low flame and let the onions turn light brown and chopped potatoes little soft. If the potatoes still hard, cook for another 5 minutes till they cook and done.

Now add all spices and the poha, coriander leaves and stir nicely till the masala is mixed with the poha. Keep it on low flame for another 7 minutes. Let it cool for some time and add lemon juice to it.

Serve Poha with any chutney or even tomato ketchup.

Enjoy!!
