Mint Mix Veg Dalia (Broken Wheat)
Dalia is one of the healthier breakfast options for all ages, I remember feeding it to my kids in various forms when they were infants and now I see my mom take it with milk as part of her breakfast and meals(sometimes)during her this phase of life, a recovery process from a major ailment.
I tired adding veggies to the dalia with a touch of dry mint powder to give a different flavour t0 it.
Ingredients -
- 1 cup Dalia (roasted)
- Water - 3 cups
- Carrot diced - 1
- Potaot chopped - 1
- Green Peas - 1/2 cup
- Green Chillies - 1
- Salt to taste
- Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Onions chopped - 1
- Dry Mint Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Chana Dal - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil to cook
- Dry Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
Method -
Dry roast dalia in a non stick pan. Wash and chop all vegetables and keep aside. Take a heavy bottom pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, chana dal, as soon as the seeds pop add chopped onions to it and saute for few minutes.
After this add chopped carrots, potatoes and green peas/ chillies to it. Close the lid and let it fry on low flame for about 5-7 minutes. Check and stir it till veggies becomes soft and onions little brown. Add all the spices to it and saute on low flame for another 5 -7 minutes.
Add water and let it come to boil, now add dalia to it and let it cook on low flame till water is absorbed totally by the veg dalia. Just before serving add coriander leaves.
Enjoy this healthy treat!!
