Tri Color Sandwich Recipe & Tri color Mocktail

Jay Hind Jay Bharat!!

Here is wishing all my Indian readers a very Happy Republic Day. Let the year ahead be in peace and harmony.

This time I wanted to do something different for the republic day, since it’s a national holiday and kids being at home, I asked them to prepare something of their choice for breakfast (of course with my help) and we ended up making tricolor sandwiches for this special day! One because these are too easy for them to prepare and second I had asked them to use only our Indian Flag colors so they had not many options. It was so much fun along with them in the kitchen though simply ignoring the mess they created but I feel it’s accepted ones in a while :) . A very simple form of sandwich recipe but too tasty.

Both my daughter and son made their own sandwiches and I stood in my own kitchen as an outsider…ahaa!! But loved it…. my two masterchef’s ruled the kitchen for good 30 minutes. Here I am sharing with you all what they made with my little help(let me give them the credit and behave like a good mamma). At last can say I have if not two but at least one master chef in making….haha!!

Ingredients for the Tri color Sandwich -

    • Bread slices - 6 (serves 2)
    • Green Mint Coriander chutney - 2 tablespoons
    • Tomato Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
    • Cheese - 2 slices

Method -

Take 3 bread slices each per sandwich and gently cut the sides. Now take first slice of bread and pour tomato ketchup on it and spread nicely and close it with another slice of bread.

My son started by cutting the bread sides(under my supervision)!!

Not to miss the bread pieces and the ketchup mess :)

On top of that slice spread the green chutney mixture.

Now is the turn to spread the green chutney, thankfully went well :)

Cover it with single cheese slice and close it with the third bread slice. Now your tri colored 3 slice sandwich is ready.

Cheese slice….it’s your turn to get in the Sandwich now :)

Diagonally cut it into two halves and serve.

Finally it’s done :)

Since this was prepared by my kids, I intentionally kept it too simple else we can do lots of additions in the same sandwich by adding veggies to it.

Not that Bad as my Mamma portrayed it right here :) …come taste it!!

I will share the other variations of this sandwich in future post as and when I prepare them at home for my family. Till then enjoy this easy and simply kids sandwich recipe version!

Mamma now its my turn (my elder one)!!

Here comes the tri color mocktail………..

With their version of sandwich they wanted to have something to drink and here goes the creativity at its best :)

Though personally feel not worth sharing a recipe that came out actually :) but definitely worth praising the efforts and thoughts put behind it’s making….

My daughters recipe version - In a glass pour khus syrup (for the green color ), add orange juice (for the orange color) and add ice cubes (for the white color) and your tri color drink is ready!!

It definitely looks great and top of it tastes too good :)

Finally my turn to share with you at least the recipe of a tri color mocktail drink (sorry I don’t have the picture of my mocktail recipe version because I did not get the chance today to prepare it as my kitchen was hijacked by my kids :) ).

What you need for a tricolor summer cooler drink -

  • Khus syrup - 2 tablespoons
  • Orange juice - 1/2 cup
  • Sprite or any soda - 1/2 cup
  • Lemon Juice - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Crushed Ice (not too much)
  • Salt and Black pepper - a little

Take a mocktail glass of your choice, pour in khus syrup and add lemon juice to it with lemon and pepper, please do not mix it. Put the crushed ice to the mixture without stirring it still. Now gently add the soda or sprite drink by tilting the glass and pouring it through the sides of the glass. Please remember it should be done very gently without disturbing the khus syrup that is already settled at the bottom of your glass. Now add the orange juice very gently through the sides. It should be done very slowly and softly. Tri color mocktail drink is ready, add a mint leave to it for garnishing and place a stirrer inside the glass because it will be required while drinking.

Trust me it will be very refreshing and colorful too!!

Enjoy and have a great day!!
