Happy Eid┬áMubarak to all my Muslim friends. It’s time for Eid and lots of fun!!!
Pista Badam Phirni is one of the sweet dishes cooked on the festival of Eid.Eid al-Fitr (Ramzan Id, Eid-ul-Fitar, or Idul-Fitr) celebrates the end of Ramadan and marks the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It is one of the two major festivals in the Islamic calendar.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar year. It is common for Islamic communities organize communal meals. Many Muslims in India also wear new clothes, visit family members, exchange Eid cards and give presents of sweets and small toys to children.
Id-ul-Fitr is distinguished as a thanksgiving day. Allah is thanked by Muslims all over the world, for his blessings. Prayers are offered under open sky and in mosques, by the entire Muslim community. In different Muslim countries, Id-ul-Fitr is celebrated in different ways. However, fasting and offering prayers is a common feature of Eid celebrations across the globe.

Though phirni┬áis loved by all, it can be a real treat for those who love milk and milk products. In India on all the festivals, desserts are a must in every home. An easy to make dessert which doesnÔÇÖt take too much time to cook, and the ingredients are easily available at home.

Ingredients -
- Milk - 4 cups
- Rice (4 tablespoon of rice flour) - 4 tbsp
- Sugar- 4-5 tbsp
- Blanched Almonds (sliced) - 1/4th Cup
- Pistachios (sliced) - 1/4th Cup
- Green Cardamom (crushed) -1 tsp
- Kewra Essence (optional) -1/2 tsp
- Silver Paper (varak)
Method:
Soak rice in water for a few hours, then drain the water and grind rice into a smooth paste, alternatively you can also use rice flour which is readily available in south India to prepare this dessert. In a heavy bottom pan, boil milk and after it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer. Add rice when the milk is boiling on low flame and keep stirring continuously so that no lumps are formed, after few minutes add sugar and cardamom to the milk and stir constantly, till it turns thick. Now remove from heat and add almonds and pistachios. Put in serving bowl and let it come down to room temperature.
Now, put in the fridge and chill and let it set. Garnish with silver paper (varak) and serve ( I could not garnish it with silver varak┬ábecause I was not having it┬áat home but that didnÔÇÖt stop me for preparing this yummy dessert┬áon the occasion of Eid).
Enjoy this special sweet dessert on this auspicious occasion.
