A healthy breakfast option, I always prefer dalia┬áwhen I am feeling unwell or when I want something nice without investing too much of time in the morning. It’s good to┬áhave dalia┬áwhen body is low and you really don’t┬áwant to eat something spicy or heavy.┬áI have made it with lots of nuts because┬áfor a change I made dalia without being unwell or lazy, hence tried with milkmaid and extra pampering to make it rich yet healthy……
- Broken wheat ÔÇô 100 grams
- Milk ÔÇô 150 ml
- Sugar /Jaggery to taste
- Cardamom Powder a pinch
- Dry fruits┬áof your┬átaste
- Milk Maid – 1 tablespoon┬á( optional )
- Saffron strings
Boil broken wheat with milk and little water (ideal is pressure cook it till one whistle), cook till broken wheat becomes soft and milk is absorbed in it. Then add sugar or jaggery┬áinto the cooked broken wheat and let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Add milk maid┬á(I had that at home an open milk maid┬átin┬áhence I used it, else its purely optional),pinch of cardamom ( it gives a very nice flavour to the dalia), saffron (soaked in milk for few minutes)┬áand dry fruits of your choice ( I use almonds, raisins, figs and sometimes walnuts too┬á).
Serve hot but it can also┬ábe eaten cold (I prefer both), itÔÇÖs an ideal healthy breakfast option┬áfor all.
