A full meal in itself during the fasting days, this is┬á a delicious recipe. Not difficult to prepare at all and taste good too.┬á
Ingredients┬áfor making swang┬áke chawal -
- Swang┬áke chawal┬á(Samwat) – 1/2 cup
- Potato diced into small pieces – 1 large
- Black Salt as per taste
- Water – 3 cups
- Ghee – 1 tablespoon
- Red chilli powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Cummin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
- Coriander Leaves for garnishing ( optional)
- Cloves – 2
- Cinnamon Stick – 1 piece
Method for making swang┬áke Chawal -
Take a heavy bottom pan, heat ghee in it and add cloves, cinnamon,cummin seeds and let it fry for few minutes. Then add diced potatoes to it with salt. I let this cook for a while to let the potatoes fry little more and become crispy.Now add rice, water,red chilli powder and let it cook on low flame with covered lid for 10 – 15 minutes. keep checking in between. Cook on low flame till rice absorbs the water┬áand rice is properly cooked. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with the sabzi.
Ingredients for making Aloo┬áKi Tari┬áwali┬áSabzi -
- Potatoes boiled – 2 – 3 large
- Tomato puree – 2 medium
- Cummin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Dry Dhaniya powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam Masala – 1/4 teaspoon
- Ghee – 2 tablespoon
- Water – 1/2 cup
Method for making Aloo┬áKi Tari┬áwali┬áSabzi -
Take a heavy bottom pan, heat ghee in it and┬áadd cummin┬áseeds, let it┬áfry for few seconds, then┬áadd all the dry spices to it along with the tomatoes┬ápuree. Let this cook on low flame for 7 minutes or till you see the pan leaves ghee from the sides and puree gets cooked. Mash the potatoes with hand and add to the pan , mix well and add water to it. Cook it on medium flame till water gets one boil, then lower the flame and┬ácontinue cooking for another 5 minutes. ┬áServe hot with vrat┬áke chawal┬áor kuttu ki puri.
