My kids expect something new and different┬áevery day for evening snacks when they come back home from school┬áand I look forward to learn new things and make it for them :), yes you are thinking it right!!! A typical Mom and I guess all Mom’s are like this. My kids really love to have cookies and that’s┬áhow I started baking cookies. My daughter enjoys having my home-baked M&M Cookies whereas my son likes snickers stuffed choco chip cookies. I have so many cookies to try for them yet and out of the big list I have created┬áfor myself, I recently baked these Simple & Easy Sugar Cookies and topped it with the nutella┬áto make it more exciting for my kids. They both are big time Nutella┬áfreaks, they can simply lick it, have Nutella┬áon the bread slice and can even roll it in a chapatis and have it, a glass┬áof Nutella milkshake┬á:), well that says it all about their love┬áfor Nutella.

Sugar Cookies with Nutella

I had initially planned to make simple sugar cookies as tea time option but then it just clicked me to add-on┬áthe nutella on the top┬áfor my kids so that they can enjoy these with their milk in the evening. They both loved it and I loved watching them have it – I guess a biggest satisfaction for any mother.

Sugar Cookies with Nutella

A very simple basic sugar cookies recipe, not much of an effort required to bake these and the result I got was soft, chewy sugar cookies. You can avoid topping it with the nutella┬áand can┬ásimply have it as it is with a cup of hot tea or coffee. I loved the sugar crystals coming out from the cookies looked like small little diamonds popping out of some place…..

Sugar Cookies with Nutella

Ingredients

  • ÔÇó All-purpose flour ÔÇô 2 cups
  • ÔÇó Granulated Sugar - 1 cup
  • ÔÇó Vegetable oil ÔÇô 3/4 cup
  • ÔÇó Egg ÔÇô 1 large
  • ÔÇó Vanilla essence ÔÇô 1 teaspoon
  • ÔÇó Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • ÔÇó Salt ÔÇô ?? teaspoon
  • (Nutella - as per taste)

Instructions

  1. Take a mixing bowl; add in oil and sugar and mix well to combine together for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add in egg and mix well with a hand mixer for 3 ÔÇô 4 minutes.
  3. Now add vanilla essence to the mixture and stir again.
  4. In another bowl sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together.
  5. Now add this dry mixture to the wet mixture bowl and stir or knead to form smooth dough.
  6. The dough will be little sticky, so keep it covered in a refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. For baking cookies, preheat the oven to 190 degrees C. and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Make small lemon size balls of the dough and flatten slightly, sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Bake for about 15 minutes or little more until they are golden brown around the edges. (It may take little more time also because it varies from oven to oven, so keep a watch for the edges to turn golden brown).
  10. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
  11. Serve as it is or simply spread Nutella over it when they cooled, top them with colour sprinklers and serve.

Notes

You can also top these sugar cookies with Nutella Frosting. For Nutella Frosting you need Nutella, powdered sugar, butter and cream. You need to beat the butter until light and fluffy and to it add sugar gradually, beating until combined well. Then add the nutella and the cream and beat gentally, Spread it over the cookies just before serving them to enjoy the twist in the cookies :).
