A yummy delight treat for navaratri, have a feast this navaratri..try it out!
- Phool Makhanas- 1 Cup
- Milk – 500 ml
- Sugar as per taste ( I added little less than a cup)
- Kesar – a few strands (optional)
- Dry fruits – Almonds and Raisins
- Ghee – 2 tsp (optional)
- Cardamom Powder 1/2 tsp
Take a heavy bottom pan, add milk and bring it to boil on medium flame and let it reduce to half. Keep stirring milk as it should not get burnt and touch the bottom of the pan. Let it continue to boil, keep stirring in between. Now clean the makhanas and chop them into half. Fry them with one teaspoon ghee or you can also just roast them in a microwave or a pan. Let them cool for few minutes as they will become crisp.
Out of these makhana, take half of them and grind them coarsely in the mixer. Add powdered makhanas and the whole ones to the milk and stir for about 8 -10 minutes on low flame. Add sugar, cardamom powder and the dry fruits to it and stir again. Let it cook for another 10 -15 minutes on low flame. Garnish the kheer with dry fruits and serve chilled or warm as per your taste.
